The Work
Integral Balance Bodywork's bodywork and massage philosophy is deeply rooted in a holistic approach to health and wellness, which acknowledges the interconnectedness of physical and emotional well-being. the work is driven by a deep-rooted passion for promoting a holistic approach is very effective at restoring balance, creating transformation, and achieving embodiment. The bodywork product I offer is 60 minutes of undiluted presence by both YOU, the client, AND me the practitioner. I expect nothing less from either of us.

Toward that end, I've come to appreciate the importance of addressing not only physical symptoms but also the underlying emotional and energetic imbalances. These imbalances disrupt the journey of embodiment. This was part of my impetus in naming my company "Integral Balance Bodywork". This perspective informs my practice, where I combine various techniques, including fluid-based craniosacral work, to facilitate a potent yet gentle release of tension and promote the body's natural ability to heal.

My fascination with fascia stems from its profound influence on the body’s structural integrity and its intimate connection to the nervous system. Fascia is the connective tissue that envelops and intertwines with every muscle, bone, organ, and is often described as the “organ of the nervous system”. Through targeted fascial work, I address not only physical tension and restrictions, but also facilitate the release of deeply ingrained emotional patterns stored within the fascial matrix.

About

Meet Christine Shaw

Specializing in treating injury, surgery, and trauma, Christine Shaw, LMT, CCST, is a seasoned bodyworker with over 23 years of experience. Her journey is not just a professional one; it's deeply personal. Having endured 17 surgeries and grappling with chronic pain for much of her adult life, Christine possesses a profound understanding of pain and dysfunction. Her own struggles have imbued her with empathy and insight that infuse her practice, offering clients a uniquely compassionate approach to healing.

Christine's path to bodywork was unconventional. With a background steeped in the arts, holding Bachelor's degrees in both Theater and Psychology, she initially pursued a career on the stage. However, a twist of fate altered her trajectory when a surgery left her with a paralyzed vocal cord, stripping away half of her 4-octave singing vocal range. Christine then embarked on a quest for restoration, both of her health and her passion for performance.

Her journey towards healing led her to discover the transformative power of soft-tissue bodywork. Drawing from her own experiences of receiving Reiki to aid in the recovery of her vocal cord, Christine delved deeper into holistic modalities, eventually becoming a second-level Reiki practitioner before ultimately finding her calling in massage therapy.

Over the years, Christine's practice has evolved, guided by her curiosity and commitment to holistic well-being. Embracing craniosacral therapy as a pivotal component of her repertoire in 2003, she seamlessly integrates this gentle yet potent modality into her massages, offering clients an approach to healing that addresses both the physical and energetic dimensions of wellness.

Beyond her therapeutic practice, Christine has a tapestry of interests. A true artist at heart, she finds solace and expression in theater, singing, and visual arts. When she's not nurturing her clients or honing her craft, you'll find her immersed in her garden or surrounded by her chosen family.
